The Emalahleni Local Municipality is noting with deep concern the continuous power outages due to high demand/ load shedding/ over loading / illegal connections resulting in frequent mechanical failures and forcing the municipality to embark on load reduction to prevent severe damage and prolonged electricity outages which can take months to fix.
Residents are encouraged to use electricity sparingly by switching off lights and appliance when not in use/ overnight/ during the day when you are at work. Please report any suspected illegal connections and vandalism of municipal infrastructure to our municipal control room (you can remain anonymous if you wish to).
To mitigate all forms of illegal connections which end up affecting innocent and loyal customers unfairly, the municipality will be commencing shortly with the installation of Smart meters programme to all households. The commencement date will be communicated to all residents in due course.
