The 2023 State of the Municipality Address will be held on the 30th of June 2023, and it is divided into two (2) parts, part one (1) is the Executive Mayor’s Excellence Awards and Part (2) is the delivery of the actual State of the Municipality Address and the Budget.
The Executive Mayor’s Excellence Awards seek to recognize, acknowledge and honour unsung heroes and heroines, individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements and or exceptional service to the Emalahleni Local Municipality (ELM) in particular and to the nation in general.
In this regard, the Executive Mayor is calling for nominations for the 2023 Excellence Awards in the following categories:
- Lifetime Entrepreneurship Award
- Most inspiring young achiever Award
- Lifetime Community Builder Award
- Sport Excellent Achiever – beyond the boundaries Award
- Educational Excellence: Principal x 2
Educator x 2
Learner x 2
School x 2
- Top five visionary Women’s Awards
- Best achiever in Arts and Cultural Industries x 2
- NPO/NGO: Special acknowledgement by the community of ELM
You also encouraged to consider young people, women and people with disability who meet the criteria of outstanding achievement/ exceptional service.
All completed, well-motivated nomination forms in a sealed envelope must be forwarded to and or physically submitted to the security check point 2nd floor, Main Municipal building, no 29 Mandela Street, eMalahleni, Ga-Nala and Ogies Regional Managers’ offices on or before 20 June 2023 at 12h00.

NOTE: The Executive Mayor’s Special recognition Awards Category (no public nominations are expected in this category) will cover inter-alia the Cleanest Ward Award, most improved ward in terms of Payment Rate for Municipal services to mention but a few.
