The Emalahleni Local Municipality hereby wishes to inform all community members about the approved 2024/25 tariff by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) based on the cost of supply study which was conducted by the municipality and submitted to the regulator for approval.
Effective from the 1st of July 2024, the municipality will be implementing the adjusted and approved tariffs which is vital for sustaining the electricity business.
Residents are urged to use the resource responsibly to support community sustainability.
Please note that the Prepaid Business Tariff changes have been approved to the current existing customers with the inclusion of a monthly basic charge of R1680.22 and moving forward all business prepaid customers will be converted to Smart Metering Technology.
Domestic prepaid tariff will include a R100.00 monthly basic charge which is a monthly service fee that will be charged when you purchase electricity. This service fee will only be charged on the first prepaid purchase of each month.
