The Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality Leah Mabuza tendered her resignation on 02 July 2024.
The former Mayor was sworn in as the new member of the provincial legislature on Tuesday, 02 July 2024.
Mabuza’s resignation was necessitated by her position on the ANC party list, requiring her to step down as Mayor of Emalahleni to assume her new role as a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
This decision ensures compliance with party protocols and facilitates a smooth transition of leadership responsibilities and reflects her dedication to public service and the need to prioritize her responsibilities in the legislature.
The official announcement will later be made who will fill her position as Emalahleni Executive Mayor.
