URGENT PUBLIC NOTICE -::- Registration of Spaza shops and other food processing and handling facilities.

In light of the directive issued by the President on Friday, 13th November 2024 concerning the registration of Spaza shops and other food processing and handling facilities, the Emalahleni Local Municipality hereby publishes the requirements thereof and the steps to be followed. It is required that the applicant should comply with Emalahleni Business Trade Bylaw, 2022; SPLUMA; Mpumalanga business Act 2 of 1996.

The following requirements has to be met:
•⁠  ⁠The applicant must be South African (with a valid south African ID)
•⁠  ⁠Title deed of the applicant or proof of Land ownership
•⁠  ⁠Apply for Special consent/zoning at Development Planning
•⁠  ⁠All Non-South Africans (Foreign Nationals) must not apply but rather the Landlord (Homeowner must apply)-This is applicable to the Spaza shops operating in the townships
•⁠  ⁠Collect the Trade licence application form at the Municipal Building-Environmental Department
•⁠  ⁠Apply for the Certificate of Acceptability (COA)-with the NDM Environmental Health Practitioners.

All business establishment issued with the trade licenses or the COA in terms of the above-mentioned legislation are required to ensure that at all times are compliant with the general requirements as stipulated in the bylaws.

Lastly all spaza shop owners are hereby invited to Emalahleni Local Municipality, on Wednesday, the 20th of November 2024, Civic Centre Hall, Time: 10:00
