DELIMITATION OF WARDS 2019-2020 PUBLICATION OF WARDS FOR OBJECTIONS FOR BATCH 1 MUNICIPALITIES
As indicated in Circular 4 of 2020, the MDB revised its delimitation programme. The programme was divided into Batch 1 and Batch 2 municipalities.
Batch 1 municipalities constitute all municipalities the MDB could visit before the declaration of the state of national disaster and lockdown and Batch 2 municipalities constitute all municipalities the MDB could not visit before the declaration of the national state of disaster and lockdown.
Stakeholders and members of the public for Batch 1 municipalities were given until the 31st of May 2020 to submit written proposals.
PUBLICATION OF BATCH 1 MUNICIPALITIES WARDS OBJECTIONS
After the closing date for submissions, the MDB analysed all submissions received.
On the 22nd July 2020, the Board considered all submissions, delimited wards and resolved to publish all wards affecting Batch 1 municipalities for objections in the relevant provincial Gazettes.
In terms of the Local Government Municipal Structures Act(Act 117 of 1998), members of the public were are allowed 14 days from the date of the publication of the of the relevant Provincial Gazette to submit written objects to the MDB.
Provincial Gazettes have been published in several dates and the MDB issued several media alerts on (MDB website, social media etc.) in the last few weeks to advise to advise on the on the publications.
Mpumalanga publication date was 07 August 2020, Gazette 31799, Notice number 77 and Closing date 20 August 2020.
After the period of objections, the MDB will consider all objections received, delimit final wards and publish these I the relevant Provincial Gazettes in September 2020.
The MDB looks forward to continued support and participation of all affected parties and communities.
The MDB is committed to ensure that this process is completed successfully on time to allow sufficient time for the final preparations for Local Government Elections.
